Types of Commercial Installations

POLISHED CONCRETE FLOORS
Polished concrete floors are a type of commercial flooring that is ubiquitous in retail, manufacturing, warehouses and multifamily development. Polished concrete offers a cost effective, environmentally friendly flooring solution that can last 20 years or more with little maintenance. Because polished concrete uses the structural slab of the building, they reduce waste and cost significantly. Further, they’re reflective, so lighting requirements are reduced in buildings utilizing polished concrete floors. Finally, they’re easy to clean and slip-resistant

URETHANE CEMENT FLOORS
Urethane cement is the most durable and resilient type of commercial concrete flooring available. As its name suggests, urethane cement is a combination of polyurethane and cement and is installed at thicknesses of 1/4″ to 3/8″. Urethane cement is also slopeable, meaning it can be used around drains and curbs. Common uses for urethane cement are food processing plants, breweries, distilleries, waste processing facilities, and cold storage facilities. Urethane cement offers extreme resilience to impact and thermal shock, and can be installed in spaces where moisture is constantly present.

EPOXY FLOORS
Epoxy floors come in a large variety of installations, but the most common variety is a ‘thin-mil’ epoxy system. These systems generally utilize 2-3 coats of thermoplastic material–a base or primer coat, a body or build coat, and a top coat. Materials such as polyurethane or polyaspartic may be substituted in these systems, and broadcasts such as quartz sand or plastic flake may be added to the body coat. Common uses for epoxy floors are food manufacturing, veterinary and medical offices, automotive repair facilities, and waste management facilities.

TERRAZZO FLOORS
Terrazzo flooring is a type of commercial flooring that is commonly used in installations with extremely high foot traffic, such as schools, courthouses, and stadiums. Terrazzo mixes an epoxy binder with marble aggregate chips, creating a floor thats both aesthetically pleasing and highly durable.
