Concrete Overlays in Dallas

Craftsman Concrete Floors installs polishable concrete overlays for commercial projects in Dallas and the surrounding Metroplex. An overlay creates a new finishing surface when the existing slab cannot produce the intended polished appearance.

A new surface over existing concrete

A polishable overlay is a cementitious layer installed over the existing concrete. After it cures, Craftsman grinds and polishes the new surface to the selected finish.

The difference from conventional polished concrete is where the finished surface comes from. An overlay adds material; polished concrete installation in Dallas works with the slab already in place.

Our concrete overlay installation guide explains the system and available finishes.

Assessing the slab and selecting the finish

Craftsman reviews the existing concrete, previous floor coverings, repairs and intended appearance before recommending an overlay.

Our overlay installations require structurally sound concrete. An overlay provides a new finishing layer; it does not repair an unsound slab.

For projects where an overlay is not appropriate, we can discuss other Dallas commercial flooring systems.

Installation and scheduling

The work includes preparing the existing concrete, placing the overlay, allowing it to cure, and grinding and polishing the new surface. The schedule must allow for the full installation before the floor returns to service.

For occupied facilities, Craftsman reviews whether the work can be divided into phases. We coordinate access, work areas and the installation sequence with the facility team.

At completion, we provide the flooring closeout documentation required by the project.
