Epoxy Garage Floors
Craftsman Concrete installs decorative flake epoxy floors for selected residential garages. We are a commercial flooring contractor, bringing our concrete preparation and coating installation experience to residential projects.
A garage floor is more than its color or topcoat. Craftsman assesses the concrete, completes the required preparation and repairs, and installs a compatible primer, decorative flake layer and protective topcoat.
Preparing your garage floor
Preparation starts with the concrete’s condition. Existing coatings, oil, contamination, cracks and damaged areas can affect the work required before a new floor is installed.
Craftsman mechanically prepares the concrete for the selected coating system. We address materials that could interfere with adhesion and repair cracks or damaged areas within the agreed scope.
Repairs prepare the surface for coating, but they do not prevent the concrete from moving. Movement in the slab can cause a crack to show through the finished floor.
Moisture testing and primer
Craftsman uses an epoxy primer on every epoxy garage floor. Where testing shows that moisture conditions require it, an appropriate moisture-barrier primer replaces the standard primer.
Choosing the color and texture
Decorative flakes create the floor’s pattern and work with the base color beneath them. Craftsman reviews the proposed blend, color and surface texture with you before installation.
Texture matters as well as appearance. Water, oil and other garage spills affect traction, so the topcoat and any slip-resistant treatment need to suit those conditions. Decorative flakes alone do not establish slip resistance.
What about one-day garage floors?
One-day garage-floor systems use fast-curing coatings to shorten the installation schedule. Some use polyaspartic for the base and topcoat; others combine a polyurea base with a polyaspartic topcoat.
Craftsman uses an epoxy primer on every garage floor, with an appropriate moisture-barrier primer where required. We establish the installation schedule around the slab preparation and the coating system’s curing requirements.
When comparing a one-day proposal, check what preparation, repairs and moisture protection are included. Also distinguish installation time from return to use: finishing the coating in one day does not automatically mean the floor is ready for parking that evening.
When you can use the garage again
Walking on the floor, parking a vehicle and exposing the coating to chemicals can require different waiting periods. A surface that feels dry is not necessarily ready for tires or heavy use.
Craftsman confirms return-to-use instructions for the installed system and the conditions in your garage. Follow those instructions before moving belongings back, parking or beginning workshop activities.
Caring for your garage floor
Remove grit and dirt regularly, clean spills promptly and use the cleaning products specified for the installed coating.
Craftsman provides maintenance and return-to-use instructions as part of the closeout documentation. Keep those instructions available for anyone cleaning or maintaining the garage.
If high-traffic areas become dull, show wear or suffer damage, contact Craftsman. We can assess the condition and recommend cleaning, repair or recoating where needed.
Request a garage-floor estimate
Contact Craftsman Concrete with your project location, approximate garage area and photographs of the existing floor. Let us know about any coatings, oil contamination, damaged areas or moisture concerns.
We’ll review the project and prepare a proposal for the required preparation and coating system. Our epoxy flooring cost guide explains the main pricing factors.

Frequently Asked Questions
A garage floor can use both. Epoxy can form the base that holds the decorative flakes, with a polyaspartic topcoat protecting the surface. Craftsman selects the complete system for your garage, including preparation, primer and topcoat.
Yes. We use an epoxy primer on every epoxy garage floor. Where the slab requires moisture control, an appropriate moisture-barrier primer replaces the standard primer.
We assess the existing coating and concrete before recommending preparation. Material that would interfere with adhesion needs to be removed. The condition of the floor determines the work required.
Do not assume next-day parking is permitted. The coating system and installation conditions determine when vehicle traffic can return. Craftsman provides instructions for your completed floor.
Flakes alone do not establish safe traction when the floor is wet or oily. We select the topcoat and any slip-resistant treatment for the garage’s expected use and review the texture with you. Spills still need to be cleaned promptly.
Repairs address existing defects, but they do not stop movement in the concrete. A moving crack can show through the coating. We review visible cracks and the proposed repair work before installation.
