Sherwin-Williams Hybri-Flex EC is a seamless, nominal 1/8 to 3/16 inch decorative floor system built on a cementitious urethane base. It uses a highly moisture-tolerant, self-priming, self-leveling body coat, topped with a double broadcast of decorative macro or micro vinyl chip and finished with a chemical-, UV-, and wear-resistant topcoat. It is a hybrid system — the moisture and thermal tolerance of a cementitious urethane base married to a decorative epoxy and urethane finish — which makes it the choice where the slab needs urethane cement moisture tolerance and the space still has to look finished. If your specification still reads Dur-A-Flex Hybri-Flex EC, this is the same system under its current Sherwin-Williams High Performance Flooring name. Craftsman Concrete Floors installs Hybri-Flex EC nationwide as an authorized Sherwin-Williams High Performance Flooring installer.

About Sherwin-Williams Hybri-Flex EC

Hybri-Flex EC is a decorative hybrid system, not a plain urethane cement floor. It pairs the moisture and thermal tolerance of a cementitious urethane base with a decorative vinyl chip finish, which is what distinguishes it from the Poly-Crete screeds and slurries.

A Decorative Hybrid on a Cementitious Urethane Base

Hybri-Flex EC starts with a highly moisture-tolerant, self-priming, self-leveling cementitious urethane body coat, then receives a double broadcast of decorative macro or micro vinyl chip set in Resuflor Glaze epoxy coats, finished with a Resutile AT urethane topcoat — formerly sold as Armor Top — to a nominal 1/8 to 3/16 inch. The result is a finished, decorative floor that still carries the moisture tolerance of a urethane cement base — which is why it is classed as a hybrid rather than a urethane cement screed. Where a project needs a hard-working process floor instead of a decorative one, the Poly-Crete systems are the correct specification.

Moisture Tolerance and Installation

The cementitious urethane base is highly moisture tolerant and self-priming in most applications, making Hybri-Flex EC a strong choice for freshly placed concrete and rough existing floors; very porous substrates are primed first with Poly-Crete TF. It is best applied between 60 °F and 85 °F, and full chemical and abrasion resistance develops over 7 days at 70 °F, more slowly at lower temperatures. The embedded data sheet governs the exact specification.

Formerly Dur-A-Flex Hybri-Flex EC

Hybri-Flex EC came to Sherwin-Williams in the Dur-A-Flex acquisition, effective July 1, 2022, and kept its name through the 2025 High Performance Flooring branding transition. There is no single FasTop predecessor for EC, but the wider Hybri-Flex family absorbed several older General Polymers FasTop decorative flake and quartz systems, so a legacy decorative-flake specification can still be cross-referenced to the current Hybri-Flex line during pre-bid review.

Frequently Asked Questions

Hybri-Flex EC is a decorative hybrid: a urethane cement base underneath for moisture tolerance, decorative vinyl chip locked in epoxy, and a Resutile AT wear coat on top, at a nominal 1/8 to 3/16 inch. It is built on a urethane cement base but specified for appearance, not as a process screed.

Poly-Crete systems are urethane cement floors built for hard-working process environments; Hybri-Flex EC is a decorative system that uses a urethane cement base for moisture tolerance but finishes with a decorative vinyl chip broadcast for appearance. Choose Poly-Crete for process durability and Hybri-Flex EC where a finished, decorative look is also required.

Hybri-Flex EC kept its name through the 2025 transition; it was previously sold as Dur-A-Flex Hybri-Flex EC. The wider Hybri-Flex line also absorbed several older General Polymers FasTop decorative flake and quartz systems.

Yes. Its cementitious urethane base is highly moisture tolerant and self-priming in most applications, making it suited to freshly placed concrete and rough existing floors; very porous substrates are primed with Poly-Crete TF first.

Hybri-Flex EC is a decorative system best suited to commercial and institutional spaces where appearance matters. For heavy wet process areas, washdown, and aggressive chemical or thermal exposure, the Poly-Crete urethane cement systems — SLB, MDB, or HF — are the correct specification.
