It is the heavy-duty member of the Poly-Crete line, built to withstand aggressive chemical and thermal attack while providing high abrasion resistance, with an optional integral cove base. Where the self-leveling Poly-Crete systems handle general and slip-resistant duty, HF is the thickest specification, for the wet, hot process floors that chew through thinner systems. If your specification still reads Dur-A-Flex Poly-Crete HF or the older General Polymers FasTop Multi Screed TG69, this is the same system under its current Sherwin-Williams High Performance Flooring name. Poly-Crete HF is the heavy-duty trowel-applied system in the Poly-Crete cementitious urethane line — the thickest standard build, specified where chemical attack and washdown heat overlap with constant abrasion.

Trowel-Applied at 1/4 to 3/8 Inch

Poly-Crete HF is a pigmented, 100% solids cementitious urethane troweled at 1/4 to 3/8 inch depending on design requirements, with an optional integral cove base that carries the floor seamlessly up the wall for sanitation. The thickness is what separates it from the self-leveling Poly-Crete systems: where SL, SLB, MD, and MDB handle general, smooth, and slip-resistant duty, HF is the heavy-duty screed for the floors that punish everything else.

Aggressive Chemical and Thermal Attack

Poly-Crete HF goes where thinner systems fail: caustic and acid cleaning chemistry, hot washdown dropping onto floor that minutes earlier sat at ambient or chilled service, and the constant scrape of drums and pallets. As a Poly-Crete system it is formulated to follow USDA, FDA, CFIA, ADA, and OSHA guidelines, and the published platform carries a 9,000 psi compressive strength (ASTM C579). Formerly Dur-A-Flex Poly-Crete HF and FasTop Multi Screed TG69

If a specification calls for FasTop Multi Screed TG69, this is the system it now names: the 2025 branding transition consolidated the General Polymers FasTop line into Poly-Crete, and TG69 maps to Poly-Crete HF. Poly-Crete HF is a 100% solids, aromatic, cementitious urethane mortar. It is pigmented, trowel-applied at 1/4 to 3/8 inch, self-priming, and built to withstand aggressive chemical and thermal attack with high abrasion resistance. HF is the heavy grade of the Poly-Crete line: where SL and MD self-level thin and smooth, HF is placed with a screed box and steel-troweled as a mortar. Its coefficient of thermal expansion is similar to concrete, which is what makes it very resistant to thermal shock. Typical service includes bottling areas, manufacturing floors, and food processing zones taking the hardest abuse. Aluminum oxide or sand can be broadcast into the wet surface where additional grip is required. Craftsman Concrete Floors installs Poly-Crete HF nationwide as an authorized Sherwin-Williams HPF installer.

Specify HF where impact, thermal attack, and chemical exposure exceed what the 1/8–1/4 inch self-leveling grades are built for. Heavy food processing, aggressive chemical service, and floors taking real mechanical abuse are its home. The 1/4–3/8 inch trowel-applied build carries impact loads and thermal mass that thinner systems transmit to the substrate. HF can also form containment berms and build slope-to-drain by blending thickness, mortar-grade versatility the slurries lack. Being self-priming, it consolidates the system stack and the installation schedule. Where finish and flatness matter more than mass, MD and SL cover the lighter duty at lower cost. Craftsman Concrete Floors matches the grade to measured service conditions and installs the full line.

HF is a trowel-method installation. The mortar is placed with a screed box to thickness, then steel-troweled at roughly a 60-degree angle to level and close the surface. The finished floor follows the contour of the substrate, so slab planing and prep set the final flatness. Joint lines show in the finished surface, which means placement is laid out in sections the crew can finish inside the working time. UV exposure ambers the aromatic chemistry without affecting performance; a Color-Fast topcoat prevents it where color stability matters. Mixing discipline matters as well. Resinous-mortar power mixers, full units only, and controlled temperatures keep the batch workable. Craftsman Concrete Floors self-performs HF installation with crews trained on the trowel-applied Poly-Crete systems.

HF installs over structurally sound, shot-blasted concrete and tolerates the Poly-Crete family’s moisture limits: up to 20 lbs/1,000 sq ft/24 hours by calcium chloride or 99% relative humidity in-situ. Surfaces must be clean, sound, and free of oil, sealers, and curing compounds, with keyed edges cut at terminations, drains, and perimeter walls per the guidelines. That moisture headroom lets HF go onto slabs that would force an epoxy specification into moisture-barrier add-ons. Keyed-edge detailing protects the mortar’s termination points from chipping under traffic and impact. Substrate contour matters more than with self-leveling grades, since the trowel finish follows the slab.
