Sherwin-Williams Poly-Crete MDB is a 100% solids, seamless 1/4-inch cementitious urethane floor system with a natural quartz aggregate broadcast that produces a slip-resistant finish. The body coat resists impact and thermal shock and is moisture mitigating — it can eliminate the primer in most environments — while the topcoat carries chemical and abrasion resistance (Poly-Crete TF Plus standard; Color-Fast where UV stability matters). It is the heavier broadcast member of the Poly-Crete line: thicker and more impact-resistant than Poly-Crete SLB, built for demanding wet and high-traffic process floors. If your specification still reads Dur-A-Flex Poly-Crete MDB or the older General Polymers FasTop Topfloor SL57, this is the same system under its current Sherwin-Williams High Performance Flooring name. Craftsman Concrete Floors installs Poly-Crete MDB nationwide as an authorized Sherwin-Williams High Performance Flooring installer.

About Sherwin-Williams Poly-Crete MDB

Poly-Crete MDB is the heavier slip-resistant broadcast system in the Poly-Crete cementitious urethane line. It earns its spot where a wet floor also takes a beating — natural quartz broadcast for grip over an impact-rated 1/4-inch body coat, with the moisture tolerance to install where epoxy cannot.

Slip-Resistant Broadcast at 1/4 Inch

Poly-Crete MDB places a Poly-Crete MD body coat, broadcasts natural quartz aggregate to a slip-resistant texture, and finishes with a chemical- and abrasion-resistant Poly-Crete TF Plus topcoat at a nominal 1/4 inch; where UV exposure or color retention matters, Poly-Crete Color-Fast is the topcoat to specify. The added thickness and impact resistance separate it from Poly-Crete SLB at 3/16 inch: MDB is specified where wet floors also take heavy impact and rolling load, such as processing and packaging areas. Texture can be tuned to the facility, and a sample should be tested before installation on slip-critical floors.

Impact, Thermal Shock, and Moisture Tolerance

The Poly-Crete body coat takes impact and thermal shock — hot washdown cycling against ambient or chilled process zones — and is moisture mitigating: it installs over damp or green concrete and in most environments eliminates the separate moisture-mitigation primer an epoxy floor would require. The published Poly-Crete platform carries a 9,000 psi compressive strength (ASTM C579) and a Shore D hardness of 75 to 80; exact figures for this build are on the embedded data sheet.

Formerly Dur-A-Flex Poly-Crete MDB and FasTop Topfloor SL57

Two legacy names map to this system. Dur-A-Flex Poly-Crete MDB is the direct one: Sherwin-Williams acquired Dur-A-Flex on July 1, 2022, and the product kept its name. The General Polymers side is FasTop Topfloor SL57, which the 2025 branding transition folded into Poly-Crete MDB. Craftsman cross-references either legacy callout to the current system during pre-bid review.

Frequently Asked Questions

Poly-Crete MDB is a slip-resistant urethane cement floor for wet process areas that also take impact and rolling load — food and beverage processing, commercial kitchens, breweries and distilleries, and warehouses. The natural quartz broadcast gives it grip, and the 1/4-inch build handles the abuse.

Both are slip-resistant broadcast Poly-Crete systems. Poly-Crete SLB is a 3/16-inch self-leveling floor with a flintshot quartz broadcast; Poly-Crete MDB is a heavier 1/4-inch build with a natural quartz broadcast and added impact resistance for process floors under heavier traffic and point loads.

It is the current Sherwin-Williams High Performance Flooring name for the system formerly sold as Dur-A-Flex Poly-Crete MDB, and before that as the General Polymers FasTop Topfloor SL57.

Yes. The Poly-Crete body coat is moisture mitigating and installs over damp or green concrete, which in most environments eliminates the separate moisture-mitigation primer an epoxy system would require.

Poly-Crete MDB is finished with a pigmented topcoat over the natural quartz broadcast — Poly-Crete TF Plus as standard, Color-Fast where UV stability is required — which carries the chemical and abrasion resistance and locks in the slip-resistant texture.
