Sika Ucrete UD 200 is a heavy-duty polyurethane cement wearing-layer screed, lightly textured and slip-resistant, rated for service temperatures up to 302°F at full thickness. The current product data sheet carries the line “formerly Ucrete UD 200,” and that single line is the whole naming story. Same product, new prefix. This is the screed BASF and later MBCC Group (Master Builders) sold under the Ucrete name before Sika brought the family into its own catalog. Chemically it is a water-based polyurethane cement hybrid installed at roughly 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch, not a thin-film coating, and its coefficient of thermal expansion of 2.2 x 10^-5 per °F (ASTM C531) sits close to concrete’s, so the floor moves with the slab through thermal cycling instead of shearing away at the bond line.

Every number in this section comes from the Sika Ucrete UD 200 Product Data Sheet, Version 03.01, July 2024, which is linked at the bottom of this page. Read the thickness-to-temperature rows before anything else. They decide whether the floor survives its coldest and hottest exposures, and they are the rows most often misread in the specifications we review. Exact values for a specific build always come from the current data sheet.

Service Temperature Is Set by Installed Thickness

Specifying a thin build for a cold room is the most common Ucrete UD 200 spec error. Freezer service to -40°F requires the 3/8 inch build, while the 1/4 inch floor is rated only to -13°F and will not survive deep-freeze duty. Steam-cleanability scales the same way. A 1/4 inch floor tolerates light steam cleaning, and the 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch builds are fully steam-cleanable, which matters wherever sanitation crews run steam under a hot-water protocol.

The Hygiene Profile Is Documented, Not Asserted

Ucrete UD 200 is impermeable to liquids and does not support bacterial or mold growth. From the end of mixing it is non-tainting, which matters around exposed food product. The data sheet backs this with an HACCP test report (I-PE-769-SA-2-RG-06b), a Halal Certification Europe listing, Indoor Air Comfort Gold under EN 16516, and a Bfl-s1 reaction-to-fire class under EN 13501-1. Chemical resistance is defined per individual chemical. Sika Technical Service confirms resistance to a specific exposure before the system is specified, so the actual chemical list from the process floor belongs in the spec package.

Substrate Tolerance and the Installation Window

The screed applies to 7-day-old concrete and 3-day-old polymer screed, and it tolerates the high-moisture substrates that push vapor-impermeable epoxies off the slab. No standing water at placement. The substrate must be structurally sound, minimum 3,625 psi compressive and 217 psi tensile, clean and free of laitance. Construction joints and static cracks are pre-treated with Sikadur or Sikafloor resins before the wearing layer goes down. Craftsman documents the slab before material ships, moisture per ASTM F2170 and surface profile per ICRI 310.2, so the substrate record sits in the closeout package instead of in dispute after the pour.

Mechanical Values and Return to Traffic

Compressive strength is 7,977 psi per ASTM C579, flexural strength 2,030 psi per ASTM C580, and tensile adhesion exceeds 290 psi per ASTM D4541 with failure in the concrete, meaning the slab lets go before the bond does. Coverage runs 22 square feet per kit at 1/4 inch, 16 at 3/8 inch, and 11 at 1/2 inch. Return to traffic is under 24 hours at a 46°F substrate. With Sika Ucrete Accelerator, that drops to about 4 hours at 50°F, which turns a weekend shutdown into an overnight window on a phased pour.

Formerly Ucrete UD 200 — the Name in the Document Header

Sika’s own documents carry the naming story in their headers: the product data sheet and safety data sheets read “formerly Ucrete UD 200.” Ucrete originated under BASF and passed to MBCC Group, the Master Builders construction chemicals business, and Sika closed the MBCC acquisition on May 2, 2023. The product did not change. A specification that reads Ucrete UD200 with no manufacturer prefix, or that names BASF or Master Builders as the source, installs today as Sika Ucrete UD 200, and the full brand lineage is on the BASF Ucrete page.

Where Ucrete UD 200 Sits in the Sika Line

Ucrete UD 200 is the heavy-duty, thick-build member of the Sika Ucrete family, installed at 1/4 to 1/2 inch above the film builds of the self-leveling slurry systems. Ucrete SL and Ucrete SLB run 80 to 160 mils on Ucrete HS24 NA, and Ucrete SL+ builds on Ucrete HS22 NA. UD 200 carries the ratings that come only with thickness, including -40°F freezer rooms at 3/8 inch and occasional 302°F spillage at 1/2 inch.
